That Shouldn't Have Happened!
If you watched the movies, do you remember this?
Well, Lurtz was supposed to miss Aragorn with the knife throw. He messed that up really really badly. It could have been a horrible disaster, but it made for an epic action shot instead.
I guess that due to multiple elements, including inability to see and the sheer weight of the knife, Lurtz missed his angle with the throw, which was supposed to be over Strider's head.
I expect that all LOTR nerds knew this happened, but I think it's worth mentioning nonetheless. Props to Viggo Mortensen on this one. Not only did he possibly save his own life, but he also made the battle scene just that much better. It's only something Aragorn would do.
Farewell, and may the blessing of Elves and Men and all Free Folk go with you. May the stars shine upon your faces!
There, how's that send-off?
Coming up next: Where'd you go, Tom?
Viggo has crazy reflexes. That's crazy that they would use a real knife in that scene.
ReplyDeleteI know. I would think that they would use a prop so as to ensure that this sort of thing never happens, but at least everybody was safe.
